Symbiosis International University conducts Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) in order to offer admissions to aspirants in BDes programmes offered at Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). Earlier known as SET for Design, SEED conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU) for design course admissions evaluates candidates on spheres such as colour, geometry, visual observations, general design awareness, creative thinking abilities, awareness on Indian culture, craft, traditions and the likes. SEED conducted by SIU comprises of objective type questions.

On the basis of an aspirant’s performance in Symbiosis Institute of Design Test, he/she can secure admission in Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes offered in disciplines such as Graphic Design (GD), Video Film Design (VFD), Animation Film Design (AFD), User Experience Design (UED), Product Design (PD), Interior Space Design (ISD), Fashion Design (FD) and Fashion Communication (FC) offered at SID. Test dates for SID Exam 2018 have been declared.

Programmes Offered

Symbiosis Institute of Design will offer four years’ undergraduate degree programme, Bachelor of Design (B.Des), in below mentioned eight specializations-

1. Graphic Design (GD)

2. Video Film Design (VFD)

3. Animation Film Design (AFD)

4. User Experience Design (UED)

5. Product Design (PD)

6. Interior Space Design (ISD)

7. Fashion Design (FD)

8. Fashion Communication (FC)


Minimum Criteria

Detailed eligibility criteria of SEED 2018 can be checked below:

·         Candidates must have passed 10+2 in any stream or equivalent or 10+3 diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the final examination (45% for ST/SC).

·         Candidates must have creative aptitude and skills required for pursuing design education along with adaptability to the professional situations.

·         Those having relevant portfolio will be preferred by Symbiosis Institute of Design.

Application Process

Step 1: Register for SEED 2018

Aspirants need to register online in order to appear for SEED Exam on the official website of the exam. 

Step 2: Apply online at SID

After registering for SEED, aspirants need to register online on the official website of SID. Here, candidates need to use their SEED ID and password in order to login and register at SID online.

Step 3: Download SEED 2018 Admit Card

Candidates can download their admit card from the official website of SID. After, downloading the admit card for SEEd, aspirants need to take a clear print of their admit card. The SEED Exam admit card contains the candidate’s full name, roll number and centre details. Aspirants need to place their latest passport-sized coloured photograph on their SEED Admit Card at the required place, otherwise they will not be allowed to take the test.

Step 4: Appear for SEED 2018 Exam

SEED is a two and a half hours duration entrance test. The Symbiosis Institute of Design Test contains objective type questions.

Step 5: Check SEED 2018 Results

SEED results will be announced by SIU on the official website of SET. Any candidate who clears SEED written test is further shortlisted to appear for the Studio Test and Personal Interaction round.

Step 6: Appear for Studio Test & Personal Interaction Round

The names of aspirants shortlisted for Studio Test would be announced by SID. The SEED Exam Studio Test and Personal Interaction round would be held at SID Pune campus.

Step 7: Check Final Merit List

The final merit list for admission in design programmes offered at SID would be prepared on the basis of an aspirant’s performance in the SID Exam followed by the Studio Test and finally the Personal Interaction round.
