Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad, in association with India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), will set up a national-level chip design center that will benefit both the start-ups and the students of the institute.

Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad, in association with India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), will set up a national-level chip design center that will benefit both the start-ups and the students of the institute.The centre will be the first of the three such facility centres in the country. IESA represents electronics system design and manufacturing industry in the country.

The Centre will provide necessary hardware as well as storage facilities and will be established in co-operation with the central and state governments.IESA chairman K. Krishnamoorthy said that a special purpose vehicle will be created for this resourcefulness. The second facility centre would be established in North India.

Each of the facility centres will be set up at an investment of INR 35 crore. The main emphasis is on supporting the start-ups in the state and to facilitate the merger of the chip design centre into the curriculum for the benefit of the students.Krishnamoorthy was interacting with the media on Thursday, after the launch of the IESA’s Hyderabad chapter in association with Moschip Semiconductor Technology.

The chapter proposes to boost hardware, electronics, and semiconductor start-ups as well as other business firms in the state and provide the required support and information. It will also help the aerospace and defence manufacturing segments.

IESA has its headquarters in Bengaluru and regional offices in Delhi and Chennai. IESA is also planning to open its chapter in Pune.

Already the Delhi Chapter has an incubation facility for the entrepreneurs hailing from the electronics field.
