Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination

 

Joint Entrance Examination (JAM) for M.Sc. Has been organized since 2004 to provide admission to. (Four semesters), combined M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual degree etc. programs in IITs and integrated Ph.D. Degree program at IISc to strengthen science as a career option for bright students. These postgraduate programs at IITs and IISc provide high quality education in their respective disciplines, which is the best in the world. The curriculum for these programs is designed to provide students with opportunities to develop educational talent to challenge and reward academic life.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) will conduct a computer-based Joint Entrance Examination 2021 (JAM 2021) on Sunday, February 14,2021. The Joint Entrance Examination 2021 (JAM 2021) will be conducted by IIT as a pre-requisite for admission to various Science programs of IIT.

IIT JAM 2021 Eligibility:

 

Candidates who qualify in JAM 2021 must fulfill the following eligibility requirements (ER) for admission to IIT.

 

·         All candidates recruited through JAM should have a bachelor's degree.

 

·         In qualifying degree, at least 55% out of 10 for general / OBC (NCL) with total marks or CGPA / CPI without round-off (taking into account all subjects, all languages ​​and adjuncts, combined in all years) Should be 5.5. 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for EWS category candidates and SC / ST and PwD category candidates.

 

If the CGPA / CPI is on a different scale, it will be graphed at 10 on a larger scale.

 

At the time of admission, all the admitted candidates have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a registered doctor in the prescribed form. At the time of admission, the admitted candidates may have to undergo a physical proficiency test by the Medical Board constituted by the Admission Institute. If a candidate is not found physically fit to pursue his chosen course of study, his admission is liable to be canceled.

 

 

IIT JAM 2021 Application Process:

JOAPS website provides an online interface to the candidate for interacting with the JAM Administration. With this interface, a candidate can:

  • Apply for the examination online.
  • Upload photograph, signature and other documents like category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), etc.
  • Pay the application fee through any of the electronic payment modes.
  • Check the status of the application form: Received, Under scrutiny, Accepted, Defect status, Status after rectification, Rejected with valid reasons, Admit card ready for download, etc.
  • Download Admit Card.
  • View answers, marks and JAM score.
  • Download JAM scorecard.
  • Submission of application for Admission.

Syllablus

IIT JAM 2021 Syllabus :

Exam Pattern will be divided in various topics and chapters from the subjects of biological science, biotechnology, chemistry, mathematics, physics and geology etc.

 

The syllabus will be based on studied topics of graduation level.

Some of the topics for each of the subjects are provided below:

Geology:

This section will include questions from the topics i.e. geomorphology, the planet earth, structural geology, paleontology, stratigraphy, petrology, economic geology, applied geology and mineralogy etc.

Mathematics Statics:

This section will include topics from differential calculus, integral calculus, matrix, sequence and series, probability, random variables, joint distributions, sampling distributions, estimation, limit theorem, testing of hypothesis etc.

Chemistry:

This section will depends on mathematical concepts, theory of gases, solid state, chemical thermodynamics, electrochemistry, spectroscopy, adsorption, organic reaction mechanism, basic concept of organic chemistry, natural products chemistry, aromatic and heterocyclic chemistry periodic table, main group elements, chemical bonding and shapes, bio inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry etc.

Biotechnology:

The questions will be asked from General biology, biochemistry and physiology, basic biotechnology etc.

Mathematics:

This section will include the topics function and one variable, integral calculation, differential calculus, vector calculus, linear algebra, real analysis, group theory and sequence and series and real number tec.

Physics:

This section will be based on the topics i.e. oscillation waves and optics, mechanics and general properties of matter, mathematical methods, kinetics theory, thermodynamics, modern physics, electricity and mechanism, solid state physics, devices and electronics and modern physics etc.
