Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance examination for entry into management programmes. Till 2018, it was conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The Test will now be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The CMAT 2019 score will be accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/ Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges.

 It is a 03 hours computer-based test, which access candidate across various segments for the admission in MBA, PGDM, Executive PGDM, PGCM courses. The qualifying candidates for Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) are granted admission to the colleges, universities, and Institutions approved by AICTE. NTA will prepare a merit list of the selected candidates, which will be forwarded to the participating institutes. The candidates are then called for the Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) or Written Ability Test (WAT) rounds and then the final result is announced.


Minimum Criteria

·         Applicant must be a citizen of India.

·         Graduates with 50% marks in any discipline can apply for CMAT 2019 exam.

·         Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2019-20 can also apply for CMAT online exam.

Application Process

CMAT comprises four steps:

STEP 1: Application process

To apply for CMAT 2019, candidates need to register on the official CMAT website as new user. On successful registration, a login ID will be shared which can be used for all login purposes. 

STEP 2: Admit Card

CMAT 2019 admit cards will be available for download on the official website, as per the schedule. Registered candidates can download their admit cards till the day before exam.

STEP 3: CMAT 2019

CMAT 2019 will be held in online mode on the scheduled date. Duration of the exam will be 180 mins and the candidates will have to solve 100 questions in MCQ format. The candidates must reach their exam centre an hour before commencement of the exam.

STEP 4: CMAT 2019 result

CMAT 2019 result will be declared by AICTE on the scheduled date. The candidates can download their scorecards from the official website. CMAT scores are valid for admission to all AICTE approved Institutes/University/Colleges.

To apply for CMAT 2019, candidates need to log on to official website of CMAT. Exam registrations will begin in October 2018.

While filling up application form, aspirants need to select dates and three cities (test venues) for online examination in the order of preference. Thereafter, candidates will be allotted dates and test centres on “first come first served” basis. Actual allotment, however, will be subject to availability of the slots in a particular city.

Exam Pattern

·         Mode: The examination will be held in online mode (computer based test).

·         Duration: The duration of the exam will be three hours.

·         Number of Questions: In the examination, total 100 multiple choice type questions will be asked.

·         Total Marks: The question paper will be of 400 marks.

·         Subjects: The questions will be asked from these segments, i.e. Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness.

·         Marking Scheme: For a correct answer, four marks will be allotted to the candidates.

·         Negative Marking: There will be negative marking of 1 mark for the wrong answer.
