CAT 2017 - The admit card of CAT 2017 is available from October 25. Common Admission Test (CAT) is the biggest national level MBA entrance test is taken by more than two lakh candidates every year. Cracking the CAT is first and foremost priority for an MBA aspirants. CAT is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) on a rotational basis. This year CAT will be conducted by Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. CAT 2017 will be held on November 26, 2017, in two sessions. In terms of exam pattern, there has been no change introduced by IIM Lucknow. CAT 2017 scores will not only be accepted by the 20 IIMs in India but over 100 B-schools across the country like FMS, SPJIMR, MDI, NITIE, TAMPI, etc. Around 4,000 seats are offered through the 20 IIMs. CAT 2017 application process was available from August 9 to September 25. Aspirants should have passed and obtained Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised University or Institute.

The minimum percentage of aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA to be obtained or secured by the applicants is 50 for General category candidates and 45 for reserved category candidates.

Final year graduation students are also eligible to appear for the exam provided they fulfill the Bachelor’s degree cutoff and other factors within the stipulated schedule given by IIMs and other participating institutes.

Application Process

The option to edit select fields at CAT 2017 Application Form had opened on September 27 and ended on September 30, 2017. The application process had commenced from the August 9. The CAT 2017 application form filling procedure was completely online.  In order to apply for CAT, candidates had to visit the official website of CAT 2017 and register. Once the CAT registration process was over, the IIM will send the login credentials to the candidates via SMS and email. After receiving the login credentials, the candidates have to log into the application window and fill up the online application form of CAT 2017 which is divided into the following areas:

Candidates are instructed to check the information provided by them in each and every category and once the CAT application form 2017 is submitted.


Applicants have to also upload their photograph and signature in .jpeg format. The files should not exceed the stated file size. The photograph should be clear and the signature should be legible enough in order to be eligible.


Candidates applying for IIM Indore (PGP) would be by default considered for IIM Indore Mumbai campus as well. Final admission will depend upon the institute wise admission criteria. 

Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of CAT 2017 will be on the similar lines as that of last year. CAT is a computer-based test of three hours duration carrying 100 objective type questions which were mixed with multiple choice questions (MCQ) and non-multiple choice questions (Non-MCQs) or TITA Question (‘Type in the Answer’ Questions without options). The number of questions in Verbal and Reading Comprehension and Quantitative Ability sections is same, i.e. 34, whereas the number of questions in Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning section is 32.
