JEST 2020

 JEST is the abbreviation for the Joint Entrance Screening Test, it is considered to be NET (National Eligibility Test) by SERB (Science & Engineering Research Board). Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is organized to offer admissions into Ph.D. & Integrated Ph.D. course in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science/ Neuron Science/ Computational Biology fieldsJoint Entrance Screening Test is a type of compulsory examination which is good for the aspirants seeking admission in integrated programmes of Ph.D.

 The Eligibility Criteria for different Integrated Program varies from one institute to other institutes.

M.Sc. in Physics is the qualifying degree. Some institutions also accept B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc./M.E./ M.Tech in Applied Physics and Mathematics.

in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc

M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science and related streams.

PhD in Neuroscience at NBRC

M.Sc (Physics/Mathematics), B.E/B.Tech/MCA in Computer Science.

PhD

in Computational Biology at IMSc

M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech/MCA in any discipline or science with some mathematical skills and strong knowledge of biological problems.

Integrated M.Sc./ M.Tech-Ph.D (Physics)

B. Sc. (Physics/Mathematics). For NISER, B.Sc (Physics) or B.E./B.Tech in Engineering (Physics) with 60% and above. 

For IIA, B.Sc. (Physics/Mathematics) /B.E./ B.Tech in Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Engineering Physics/Electronics and Communications/ Computer Science & Engineering/Optics and Photonics will also be considered. 

IISER-Pune, ICTS-TIFR, NCRA-TIFR, and TIFR-TCIS, B.Sc. (Physics) will be considered.

 JEST 2020 Application Form :

1.      Students can read below details regarding JEST 2020 Application Form:

2.      Students have to fill JEST Application form through online mode.

3.      Students will be able to fill the application form till the third week of December 2019.

4.      To register, students must enter their working email ID and phone number to get login credentials.

5.      Students will have to upload passport size photograph & signature in the prescribed format.

6.      After successfully submitting of the application form, Students have to keep the print out till the completion of admission process.

 

 

 JEST 2020 Application Fee:

1.      The application form fee will be Rs. 300 for general Students.

2.      For SC/ ST category Students, it will be Rs. 150.

3.      Female Students of SC/ ST category do not have to pay fee.

JEST 2020 Syllabus :

1.      Students must prepare according to the prescribed JEST 2020 Syllabus.

2.      The syllabus will be different for each offered programmes.

3.      Students can prepare from the topics studied at graduation & post-graduation level.

4.      Some of the topics from Physics & Theoretical Computer Science are discussed below:

Physics:

This section will be carrying various topics such as Mathematical Methods, Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism & Optics, Quantum Mechanism, Thermodynamics & Statistical Physics, and Electronics.

Theoretical Computer Science:

This section will consist of topics like Analytical Reasoning & Deduction, Discrete Mathematics, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Data Structure & Algorithm, and Principle of Programming.
